Sengen Shrine (Fujizuka)

Built during the early Edo Period, this Shinto shrine has a prominent monument known as “Fujizuka,” located around the back of the main shrine building.

The monument is a considered a local “power spot,” built using the lava and rocks from Mt. Fuji, and is said to be equivalent to climbing Mt. Fuji, when you walk to the top of it. It is said that during the Meiji Restoration, the new government armies surrounded the retreating Shinsengumi right on these grounds. Every year on the first weekend of July a festival is held here!

Come and climb the “mini” Mt. Fuji of Nagareyama!
