The night skies were painted with fireworks and music notes this past Saturday (10/7/2023), at Nagareyama’s Firework Festival. Advertised as a “Sky Musical,” fireworks were shot up in synchronization to upbeat J-Pop songs by popular artists like YOASOBI, Kenshi Yonezu, and Mrs. Green Apple.

Since it was the first firework festival in 4 years, no expense was spared. The fireworks spanned across 500 meters of the Edo River, making for a widescreen, IMAX movie theater-like experience that lit up the entire night sky. Attendees had an exciting time setting up camp along the river, getting tasty food like yakisoba and candied apples at the various food stalls, and settling in for the show.
